This Sunday, 28 August, Butetown Carnival will start at 12pm with a colourful carnival parade from Loudoun Square to the Senedd, followed by two days of cultural performances and family fun at the Cardiff Bay waterfront.
The carnival dates back to the 1960s and has a huge cultural and historical importance to the local community of Butetown. It has an incredibly colourful history and has become a focal point for Black culture in south Wales. It’s the biggest and brightest celebration of diversity in Wales.
We’re hosting a stall at the carnival where members of the public can come along and talk to us about exciting plans in the Butetown and Bay area, including our plans for Butetown’s new station and Bay Line transformation.
The Stakeholder team has been busy meeting with businesses and local venues as well as engaging with residents in the Butetown and Cardiff Bay area. We’ve also launched a new section our website which we’re keeping updated with community and stakeholder engagement events organised by TfW and our partners. View the webpage here where you can find out more about what engagement is happening in communities across Wales.
