Work is underway to modernise Bridgend railway station as part of Transport for Wales’ multi-million-pound Station Improvement Vision.
There will be a number of extra facilities added for customers, including the installation of new customer information screens in the main booking hall.
The screens will not only provide customers with train journey updates, but also information about local bus services and other general information.
Improvements also include the re-painting of the footbridge and redecoration and refurbishment of the waiting room on Platform 2, as well as some new seating benches added to both platforms.
There will also be a new cycle shelter with extra hoops, additional recycling bins across the station, renewed station signage and lights will be replaced with LED lighting, which helps to create a safer and more welcoming environment.
Yasmin Browning, Transport for Wales Station Improvements Projects Manager, said: “We’re delighted work has started at Bridgend, where we’re already seeing so much progress being made to improve facilities for our customers in what is a key community on our network.
“When finished, we believe the number of improvements we’re making to the station will mean our customers see great benefits making them feel safer, more comfortable, and giving them an overall more enjoyable experience.”
Contractors are now on site to transform the station over the coming weeks, with work set to be completed at the end of March.
