Transport for Wales (TfW) is proud to announce that colleagues have voted to partner with Seren Dwt as its Charity of the Year for 2025. This exciting collaboration reflects TfW’s commitment to supporting local communities and making a positive impact across Wales.
Seren Dwt are a small not-for-profit organisation on a mission to celebrate and support families across Wales who have a child born with an extra 21st Chromosome. They gift Welcome Boxes to babies born with Down Syndrome across all Health Boards in Wales to celebrate their arrival and signpost families to local and national support groups. The charity also supports families to access training and information by funding education courses, including Makaton signing, Speech and Language and understanding behaviour.
A spokesperson for Seren Dwt said: “As a small and relatively new charitable cause, we were overwhelmed to hear that Seren Dwt had been chosen to be TfW’s chosen Charity of the Year. We are very excited to work with TfW to raise much needed funds to continue growing the services Seren Dwt provides to families with a child with Down syndrome in Wales, whilst raising awareness to the public about having a baby with Down syndrome in the 21st Century.”
Throughout the year, Transport for Wales will engage in various fundraising activities with colleagues to support Seren Dwt and will see Seren Dwt’s charity livery emblazoned on one of their Mark 4 carriages to promote the fantastic work being done by this small charity.
James Price, Chief Executive Officer at TfW said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Seren Dwt. This collaboration presents a wonderful opportunity promote awareness of their important mission and support a charity that makes a real difference in the lives of children and families in our communities."
