We're making it easier for you to recycle while you travel.
New recycling hubs are being installed across stations and the borders to help our customers dispose of waste correctly and support a greener Wales.
Earlier this year, we introduced recycling hubs at our eight largest stations (Holyhead, Chester, Shrewsbury, Cardiff Central, Cardiff Queen Street, Swansea, Newport & Bridgend). We're now installing further hubs across our network, with installations already underway on the Vale of Glamorgan line and work beginning across North Wales in September.
The new recycling hubs make it easier to separate different types of waste, including food waste, paper and card, glass, and plastics, metals and cartons.
The recycling hubs use a colour-coded system that aligns with the standard recycling colours promoted WRAP Cymru across Wales. By using familiar colours for different types of recycling, customers can quickly identify the correct bin and recycle with confidence, whether they're at home, at work or travelling through our stations.
Recycle Week is an annual campaign that encourages people across Wales to recycle more of the right things, more often. The rollout of our recycling hubs supports this message by making it easier to recycle on the go.

The hubs will help reduce contamination in recycling bins and improve recycling rates across our stations. If you're unsure where an item should go, please use the 'everything else' bin rather than risk contaminating recyclable materials.
The initiative supports the Waste Separation Requirements (Wales) Regulations 2023 and the Separation of Waste (England) Regulations 2024, and forms part of our wider commitment to reducing waste, improving recycling and creating a more sustainable public transport network.
By making recycling facilities more visible and easier to use, we're helping customers and colleagues play their part in supporting Wales' ambition to become one of the world's leading recycling nations.
