🚆🌸Spring has a way of waking things up, the wildlife and our sense of adventure. 17th April also happens to be World Public Transport Day, celebrating greener and simpler ways to travel.
Whether you’re craving coastlines, castles and colourful gardens, our network connects you to uplifting places to enjoy the season.
Below are five destinations easily reached by train with us.
Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury’s half-timbered buildings, cobbled lanes and blossom-filled corners come alive in spring.
Stroll through The Quarry, the town’s riverside park where the Dingle Garden bursts into colour at this time of year.
See Shrewsbury from the water by taking the Sabrina Boat cruise along the River Severn – perfect for a spring day.
For a dose of history, the Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery is just a few minutes from the station, while St Mary’s Church has beautiful medieval stained glass. For something a little different, Shrewsbury Prison offers guided tours and immersive experiences in its historic walls.
Our trains run to Shrewsbury from Cardiff, Newport, Hereford, Wrexham and more.

Hereford is a compact, green city ideal for exploring in springtime. Hereford Cathedral is home to the famous Mappa Mundi, a medieval map of the world that feels like stepping back in time.
Hereford is both cosy and welcoming, with independent cafés and shops – perfect for exploring after your riverside stroll.
Our trains run to Hereford from Cardiff, Newport and Abergavenny, Shrewsbury and more.

Llandudno
Llandudno feels tailormade for a bright spring day. The long Victorian promenade is perfect for a breezy stroll. The Great Orme, dotted with wildflowers in spring, rises above the town like a natural viewing platform.
Fancy an easier route to the top of the Orme? Its tramway is one of the few remaining cable-hauled street tramways in the world, and it’s in service from springtime. It’s a charming way to get to the summit and take in the sweeping views.
Our trains run to Llandudno from Conwy, Shotton, Chester and more.

Spring transforms Cardiff into a city of colour where you can stroll around beautiful green spaces. Bute Park, right behind Cardiff Castle, becomes a blossom canopy with riverside paths that feel miles away from the bustle.
Roath Park is another spring favourite, with its lake, Victorian conservatory and wide lawns, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. If the weather turns, the National Museum Cardiff offers art, natural history and plenty of indoor inspiration.
