At Transport for Wales (TfW), we’re committed to making journeys by bus and cycle more inclusive, practical, and welcoming for everyone. Whether you're a someone who cycles a lot, a regular bus user, or someone curious about combining the two, we want to hear from you.

We’re launching a study to understand how cycles and buses could work better together across Wales. And the first step? Listening to you.

Why This Matters

Walking, wheeling and cycling is at the heart of our vision for a greener, healthier Wales but we know that combining cycling and bus travel isn’t always easy. That’s why we’re asking:

  • How do you currently combine cycling and bus travel?
  • What would make it easier or more appealing?
  • Could better integration encourage more people to cycle or use buses?

This is an early-stage study — no decisions have been made yet. Your feedback will help guide our future thinking and shape potential improvements.

Have Your Say

We’ve launched a public survey to gather views from a wide range of people — people who cycle, bus users, occasional travellers, and those who might consider combining the two in future. Whether you travel daily or just now and then, your voice matters.

Take the survey now: https://haveyoursay.tfw.wales/cycle-and-bus?

The survey is open from 29 September to 19 October and every response counts. Your insights will directly inform how we plan future improvements to make cycling and bus travel more connected, convenient, and inclusive.

For those unable to use the online survey, alternative accessible versions can be requested.

Let’s build a better-connected Wales — together.
Take the survey, share your thoughts, and help us make sustainable travel more accessible for all.

Why Choose Cycling?

It might surprise you to learn that the average UK driver spends nearly four years of their life behind the wheel — and around eight months of that is spent sitting in traffic. That’s a huge chunk of time that could be spent doing things that matter more to you.

Cycling is a smart, healthy, and sustainable way to travel. It helps you stay active, reduces stress, and fits easily into your daily routine — all while cutting down on traffic, carbon emissions, and travel costs. With Wales’ expanding cycle network, swapping short car journeys for cycle trips is easier than ever. It’s a small change that brings big benefits for your health, your wellbeing, and the planet.

Why bus travel makes a difference

Whether it’s for work, school, or leisure, travelling by bus is a cleaner and more sustainable mode of transport than using the car. Making journeys by bus reduces our carbon emissions, helping to combat the climate emergency. Some 70 million journeys are made by bus in Wales every year.
