Dwynwen settled down in a convent in Anglesey, Llanddwyn church.. After facing heartbreak herself, she prayed that others would find the happiness in love that she never did.

In her honour, Dydd Santes Dwynwen has become Wales’ most romantic day of the year, a time when people show their affection by spending meaningful time together and sharing cards and gifts.

Ruthin

Aberystwyth 

Panoramic sea views and Mediterranean foodie gems, Aberystwyth is a great choice for Dydd Santes Dwynwen. 

If you love scenery but aren’t keen on steps, Aberystwyth Cliff Railway is the perfect solution. Take a trip on the wooden railway and enjoy the ride as the train embarks up Constitution Hill. Swansea

If a couple’s cycle is your idea of romance, why not hop on a Next bike to Mumbles? The Swansea Bay cycle path offers a smooth ride and beautiful coastal views, with eateries dotted along the path for a well-deserved snack.

Brecon

Brecon is a vibrant market town on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, offering a mix of culture, history, and breathtaking landscapes. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a weekend escape, there’s plenty to explore.

Brecon sits at the gateway to one of Wales’ most iconic natural landscapes. The National park is known for its dramatic mountains, peaceful lakes, and endless walking routes. Explore the beauty that is in Bannau Brycheiniog by visiting Y Castell, where local producers are used to craft their dishes. 

Pen y Fan dominates the skyline of Bannau Brycheiniog and is known as the highest mountain in South Wales. So if you love the outdoors, climbing Pen-y-Fan is a must. If you're travelling by public transport, you can take a train to Merthyr Tydfil from the south or to Newtown from the north. From there, hop on the T4 bus and get off at Storey Arms.

Visiting Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and climbing Pen-y-Fan, it is a perfect way to admire the views of South Wales as Wales’ patron saint of lovers is celebrated on 25th January, and many couples choose the mountain’s sweeping views as a meaningful place to mark the day.
